Nothing comes to any of us easily. If we want something, we have to work hard for it. This work is put in over the course of our lifetimes, and when this work is paired with a positive attitude, determination to succeed, and respect for everyone, there’s nothing an individual can’t achieve.
Our mermaid, Whimzy is an excellent example of this, and she hopes to inspire the next generation with her own success story so that the kids can go forward and pen their own.
Every individual has a special story. This is the story of Whimzy The Mermaid- a story of hard work, determination, and a refusal to give up on her dreams.
Our mermaid, Whimzy, was born on a kelp farm in Kelpy Acres, a sleepy little underwater village in the Atlantic Ocean a few miles east of Charleston, South Carolina. It’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, and though she dearly loves her friends and family, Whimzy always dreamed of making it to the big city to become a dancer. Through hard work and determination, she turned that dream into a reality.
After graduating from Golden Minnow High School in Kelpy Acres, Whimzy worked hard and was accepted into the Coral Academy of Music, Art, and Dance (CAMAD) in Coral City, an undersea community in waters in between Miami, FL and Bimini Island, Bahamas. At CAMAD, she learned to come out of her shell and be her true self. But as fun as it was to perform at halftime of the CAMAD flukeball games in front of 5,700 merfolk, she dreamed of performing in the bowls of Atlantis- in front of the biggest crowds in the deep blue sea. So she worked her way up the mermaid dancing industry, and sure enough, she soon began receiving calls to perform in Atlantis's Deep Sea Stadium.
Whimzy lit up the underwater sky at the Deep-Sea Stadium in Atlantis. The 88,548-seat stadium was always sold out to witness Whimzy’s brilliant combination of colors and dance moves rock the sea. Barracudas, sharks, pompanos, anglers, puffer fish, wrasse, angelfish, triggerfish, dolphins, minnows and John Dory’s were routinely drawn from all across the ocean to see the mystical Whimzy perform her show. She even attracted Spongebob Squarepants and his friend Patrick once!
After twenty years of performing in front of packed crowds of 88,548 at the Deep Sea Stadium, Whimzy decided to retire and spend the rest of her days giving back to both the land-dwelling and sea-dwelling communities, inspiring the next generation with messages of kindness, hard work, and unity. Today, Whimzy performs her routine at children’s birthday parties throughout the Charleston, SC and Kelpy Acres areas, giving the leaders of tomorrow a magical experience they won’t forget.
In the beginning, I was just a guppy with a dream. I wanted to be a mermaid, but more than that- I wanted to be a professional mermaid dancer. Through hard work and dedication, I made that wish come true.
But this isn't just any story about a guppy and her dreams. It's about how our world has changed and how we can change it back again. It's about the future, and what happens when you decide to make your own destiny instead of letting someone else decide for you.
Mermaid Whimzy is all about generating memories that last a lifetime. The fun, sparkly designs and bright colors will covertly encourage creativity for the children while also providing entertainment and the education of story time. Your children will surely fall in love with our magical mermaid, who brings the mystical combination of design, colors, and an unforgettable experience that’s sure to make them smile every time they see them.
Whimzy's hard work, determination and desire to always be better than the day before paid off. In her first full year of performing at the Deep-Sea Bowl, Whimzy attracted approximately 3.9 million fans at her shows; that number more than quadrupled in her second year, and kept rising with each ensuing year. By the time she called it a career, Whimzy had performed her magical dance routine in front of 992 million undersea fans!
Whimzy's story of making it big is a great lesson for all the children she entertains: believe in yourself, work as hard as you can, and you will succeed. That doesn't mean it will always be easy, but with enough determination, anything is possible.
